Massive Juicing

Well, with so many fruits and veggies in my fridge that I feared would rot in vain, I decided to make a massive juice. Luckily, my mother has been wanting to start a juice cleanse and bought a dozen 8oz mason jars. What I thought would take me but an hour, ended up dragging to three! I didn’t even want to drink any of it by the time I was done. I just wanted to sip on my new white jasmin tea and relax.

So, here’s what I found:

  • tangerines
  • apples (green and red)
  • pears
  • kale
  • broccoli
  • cucumber
  • beet root
  • carrots
  • tiny piece of ginger (i found it by surprise)

As I’m nearing the end of such a long and tedious juicing process, I think I may have forced too many carrot chunks at once. The juicer stopped functioning. Noooo, I only had a bit left to finish!

So I took the juicer apart, cleaned everything out, washed it, disconnected and reconnected. Nothing worked. Then I noticed a smokey smell. Great, just what I needed! I broke my juicer, I thought.

So I decided to let it cool and take a short break. I go back to the kitchen to play handywoman, and nothing worked. How absent minded! I realized that the lever to secure the juicer wasn’t lifted, otherwise the machine will just not work.

Woohoo! Finally, I can finish juicing the rest of the stuff.

I’ve never made this much juice all at once before.

I thought maybe it would fit in several jars.

To my surprise, I had to use all 12 jars plus an extra 12oz i had in the dishwasher. I love the color that the beet root gives the juice.

And lastly, i wrapped the mason jars in foil to prevent oxidation. Ideally, I would have dark amber jars, but I cant seem to find them. Oh well, foil works!

Here’s to a delicious and nutritious juice, CHEERS!

  1. Nice! I never thought about using foil to reduce oxidation, how long will the effect work? I’ve done several juice feasts over the years. The longest was 92 days. It was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. A gallon of green juice every single day. Really bolstered my health! Here’s to your health!

    • Not sure how long it lasts. Never thought about it, to be honest. But if you set good intentions on everything you consume, trust it will be blessed 🙂

I’m not doing a cleanse or anything. I just love to drink the juice. Plus, i don’t get the adequate amounts i need by just eating, so this makes it easier and healthier. Cheers!

my mum puts the pulp on her breakfast cereal with nuts and yoghurt… she looks amazing for 65…could it be the pulp?

  5. I just started jucing and i am thankful for some of the ideas you shared! I can see we both will be very successful in our health search. I am going to make several jars and ty to find the amber ones if i do i will let you know. I am glad to have come across your site, It is a blessing this morning my sister…Thank you for the lesson! Have a wonderful day!

    • Thank you. I’m glad you found this post useful. Juicing is truly wonderful. It allows us to consume plenty fruits and veggies in a single day. In this fast-paced society we live in today, it is near impossible to take care of our bodies at all times, especially for the lower and middle class. And when done with the family, it creates a great bonding and learning atmosphere. Cheers!
