On black friday…

instead of joining the frenzy at the stores, my cousin and I decided to go watch our favorite local band, Visions Band, for a bit of distraction from the craziness our family is going through right now.

Visions Band usually perform down in South Beach. So on our way down, instead of jumping on the highway to reach our destination faster, my cousin suggested taking the scenic route. We traveled on A1A (paralleled to the Atlantic Ocean) for about 25-30 miles.

Traffic was pleasant. We were feeling ‘irie’ a.k.a. extra nice. Bob Marley music was blasting through the speakers. Windows down, enjoying the cool breeze of beautiful South Florida weather. I caught a few pictures along the way.

Then I have a special treat from our favorite band! ūüôā

Here is one of my dearest and most talented of friends, Roy Robinson with Visions Band, performing a cover of Bob Marley’s¬†Could You Be Loved. This video, by no means, does any justice to this man’s gift, rather it serves as a glimpse of what he is truly capable of. He is limitless!

Don’t be afraid to get outa your chair and dance! ūüėČ

Fall and Flight

In mid October I finally go to see what¬†real fall looks like. I was in Maryland for a wedding and on my last day I got to breathe the fresh air of nature in another city. I saw the beauty that lies in autumn colors and weather. I was mesmerized! I’m so used to palm trees and beaches, people half naked, busy streets, and hectic days. It was such a wonderful experience.

Here are a few shots of my last day.

I also took shots of my flight from Maryland to Boston and from Boston back home to Ft. Lauderdale Airport in South Florida. Check them out!

New phone, new cam, new features

So I finally got rid of my old phone. Since I still don’t have a reliable camera, I’m glad my new phone provides me with a pretty decent lens. Here are some photos taken with my new phone cam. They are edited through different apps.

After trimming my hair in Midtown, I stopped at the end of a street to capture the splendor.

Beach time in Hollywood.

Parked in the parking lot at work during lunch. I love rain!

Wearing my jade accessory in my favorite place, the beach.

Cloudy and rainy day at the beach in Fort Lauderdale

Waves crashing, i love it!

My favorite meal after a good run: Spinach & artichoke hummus sammich with cucumber, carrots and alfafa sprouts.

Taken with old phone but edited with new one.

Jamaica Trip Sept 2012 #2

These photos were taken with my BlackBerry. The only pictures I took with it.

Here, I had just arrived from Miami into Kingston.

As I stepped outside, I couldn’t believe the mountains in the background!

This is the trampoline Damali and I sat one for quite some time on Sunday morning.

I must confess… this was the first time I actually enjoyed coconut water.

I have a new found love for it!

The famous Bob Marley Museum.  The purpose of going was to pass out flyers for the event on Saturday.

I was hoping to have a chance to actually visit it.

The weather that weekend was either extremely hot or overcast with thunder.

We did a lot of driving!

To the left you’ll notice my favorite tree: Royal Poinciana

Saturday morning before starting my busy day, I had breakfast out in the balcony.

The view from Beverly Hills

The famous¬†Jamaican¬†fruit, Ackee before it’s ready to eat.

Cool looking plant.

Plane about to depart. It’s violet hour.

In the air, pink haze. Beautiful!

I can feel the fresh air just by looking down at the mountains.

Jamaica Trip Sept 2012 #1

My trip started very early on Friday morning. Unfortunately, I have no photos to show for Friday at all. But my lovely friend Danny took pictures for me for the next two days.

The 100 Thousand Poets & Musicians for Change Event was held Saturday, Sept 15. The theme was “Tell the Children the Truth”.¬†The show was running a few hours behind. After last minute changes, I opened up the show with two pieces. (Not to worry, I have my performances captured in video and shall post at a later time.)

Damali Adele Ife
The mastermind behind the whole event.

Intermission
Andre, a friend who lived in Miami several years ago.

Coming all the way from Italy

Yashika,
I met her earlier in the year in Miami during an event

Jack of all trades,
No one was prepared to hear what he had to say.
He blew us all away with his instruments and poetry

She ended the poetry session with power!

After the show, we all cleaned up, picked up and ate rice and peas, coleslaw, and porridge and then washed it down with coconut water

Later we headed over to Beverhills to pick up a friend. We spent some time there and decided to do a spontaneous mini photo-shoot. Twas fun!

My camera man and dear friend, Danny.

We went around the back to get another view.

Orlando teaching us about raw Ackee (a fruit)

Usain Bolt stance, (Moon version)
I had to be careful of keeping my balance…
it’s a loooong way down!

Orlando demonstrating a raw burger.

Now it was time to go home. We headed to Jacks Hill.

Sun was setting

The Violet Hour.

Up on the roof!

At night, Danny and I headed to his house so I can meet his sister and mom. His dogs sure loved me, one of them was jumping all over me as i’m walking to the front door. Later, we had dinner and hung out. After dinner, Danny took me up high in the mountain to have a quiet time. As we’re driving up, i can feel my ears popping. It was an amazing and a great end to a hectic day.

Never been so high before! Twas a breath of fresh air.

Sunday morning, Damali and I slept in, had breakfast and hung out on the¬†trampoline¬†in her aunt’s backyard. We then decided to go to the beach before heading to the airport. We killed a lot of time on that trampoline! It started thundering and raining. We decided to go anyway.

My legs got massacred by mosquitoes throughout the whole trip!

Not the perfect beach weather

Beautiul red beaked bird hovering over us.

To the left there was a fishing boat coming in with a catch

It was soon time to run back to change, get my bags and rush to the airport!

Departing Jamaica!

I wish I had more scenic photos to show but it was a very short trip, and the first half consisted of running many errands for the event on Saturday.

Nonetheless, I had an amazing time with wonderful friends.

*Stay tuned. I will post few pics I took with my phone. And I will also post video of me performing.
