Trees Heal

During the full moon in September, I attended a Full Moon Party in Miami.

There was a white wall that served as a blank canvas for everyone to express themselves with paint.

Here’s what I did. 🙂

TWO more Awards!

WOW, really? That’s pretty dope!

So, last Friday, Yoga with Maheshwari nominated me for the:

Reader Appreciation Award!

I began following her blog not too long ago. Her posts are so inspiring and bring comfort and peace to the mind, always providing substance for self-reflection!
Make sure to stop by her BLOG and prepare to meditate to her words! 🙂

Another one of my favorite bloggers, oh.she.cooks, nominated me tonight for the:

Beautiful Lipstick Award!

She say’s she’s “just a girl and her apron”. But I’m willing to bet that she’s an amazing cook! Her dishes are health conscious, vegan and oh-so-delicious-looking! I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if you stalked her BLOG, so go right ahead, click the link!

Well, with Ramadan nearing its end and other great things going on in my life (that I will share with you as soon as I’m able to), I haven’t had the time to dedicate much on here. It takes me a two days or three to contemplate writing something, even if short! So I wont be following standard rules for the award nominations this time around! But do check out my DOODLES page, I have added some new drawings!

I do, however, want to thank, not only these two fabulous women, but all of you for taking the time to read my humble little blog. I started this blog as an outlet, but I never imagined I’d have many readers who appreciate my thoughts, words, emotions and experiences. I’m truly honored and humbled to be part of this blogging community where I am able to learn about many different cultures, visit many places in the world by a click of a button, and read some incredible stories, both fiction and non.

I trust I will continue to be inspired by all you wonderful people who have become my brothers and sisters!

Peace and Love,

Moon ♥

My First Award: Lovely Blogger

Yay, my first award! I was nominated a week and a half ago with this One Lovely Blog Award. Truly, I’m humbled. I came across her blog through another blog and I was instantly intrigued. Her photos are very inviting and inspire me to go out and take more than I already do, (should be getting my camera soon 😀 ). Since I began blogging approx 2 to 3 months ago, I have come across numerous blogs that are worth following, and I’m grateful to those who follow me as well and enjoy my posts.

So, rule number 1 in accepting this award is to thank the blogger who nominated me and provide a link to her site. Hibiscus Rosa Noor , thank you for the nomination and supportsince you began following my blog. EVERYONE, please visit her blog by clicking the link above!

Rule number 2 is to share 7 random things about myself which I haven’t already revealed in my blog. So here goes (in no particular order)!

  1. When I was 20 years old, I published a book of children’s poetry titled In a Full State of Mind. A copy was sent to children in Uganda.
  2. I have never seen snow.
  3. I rock myself to sleep.
  4. I migrated to the US around the time I was 3. During one of the rivers that my family and I crossed, my parents handed me over to 2 men who were also migrating; each of my parents had each of my 2 siblings so they needed help. The men crossed the river before them; they lost sight of them and lost me for a few hours.
  5. I’ve only had one trophy in my entire life, and it was in 5th grade for a Spanish spelling bee, go figure!
  6. I set out a goal to learn a new language each year, starting this year. 2012 – Portuguese. Me desejem sorte!
  7. In one year alone, I locked myself out of my car at least 10 times! No exaggerating!!

The next rule is to list 15 bloggers whom I’ve had the privilege of following and would like to acknowledge as my favorites.  These bloggers are, by no means, the only great ones I follow, but I was limited to this amount. In my attempt to be as versatile as possible, here are my final top 15 (in no particular order). Do check them out!

  1. Yogini Tiff – A Yogini and Reiki Master with great adventures, pictures and advice- positive light and energy.
  2. Slapppshot – Great sense of humor and fun to read about the Big Three: Dad, daughter and their fury sidekick.
  3. El Bueno, El Feo y El Malo – Skilled photographer, providing so much of his work, which is AMAZING!
  4. Small Potatoes – Most creative blogger I have come across – provides toddlers with the tools to fuel their imagination.
  5. Suzee in the City– From Cairo, a photo journalist who captures street art as it begins to rise in vibrancy amidst political upheaval.
  6. Beachole – A seeker of truth discovering hidden talents – unapologetically and straight to the point (no sugar-coating), he unveils social media, politics and life as it comes across his path.
  7. Loni Duek – Wonderful and creative artist, photographer, Reiki Master, writer and lover of nature with an inspirational and breath of fresh air blog!
  8. Clotilda Jam Cracker – Witty, comical, amusing, thought provoking and out-of-this-world; she knows how to tell a story, divert it and come back to the original topic, always keeping the reader wanting more.
  9.  Silver Poetry – Very talented artist and poet with a true, mesmerizing gift!
  10. Beach House Kitchen – Exceptional blog about everything healthy in the kitchen, abundant with advice, recipes, vibrant photos and information.
  11. The Borscht of Time – Filled with philosophy and wisdom, sure to make you reflect and ponder.
  12. Talkin’ Shit – What it sounds like, but not really. Taps on different topics that come to mind, cross his path or may be passionately for or against with great sense of humor yet grounded with conviction.
  13. Oh.She.Cook. – About a girl and her apron! Very cute blog. Great food indeed!
  14. ooamerica – Hosting multimedia content produced during ooa revo’s 2011-2012 USA Road Trip including videos, photos, writing, artwork and more.
  15. Soulshine Traveler – a beautiful blog about traveling all around the world with inspiring photos. A MUST see!

The last rule is to notify all 15 bloggers and link them to this post.

I hope you guys enjoy these blogs as much as I do!

Rambling I am

So, I’m thinking of changing the concept of my blog. I mean, what was it to begin with? Who knows?! I only know that I’m just a single gal in seek of truth while I enjoy my freedom. I love myself more than I ever have, and I thought perhaps I should let the whole world know.

Originally, I began my blog in hopes of chronicling my path, that in some way or another, it would remind me of the obstacles, influences and other factors that have contributed to my growth. But I realize that I am not being fair. Simply because I am NOT recording my experiences like I said I would. I asked myself why not, and I came to the conclusion that doing so would entail disclosure of my private life; it would require that I post transparently about my journey. And although it may help some solemn individual somewhere out there in our world who also seeks for something more meaningful out of life than factory-like routines, do I really want to be that person who sacrifices privacy for the sake of inspiring others?

I don’t know. One, because I’m lazy. And two, because I actually have friends and fam who read this site. And it’s not that I’m hiding anything from them, but the anonymous-type blog that I formerly intended to create is no longer anonymous. And I’m fine with that. But I instinctively refrain from carrying out the original idea for this blog.

Perhaps the only thing I have complied with is posting some of my poetry, and displaying my amateur photography, or posting music that moves me. But was that not, in part, the purpose of my blog?

Regardless, I don’t even know why I am posting about this. Nobody even wondered whether or not I was abiding by my intentions.

There will be times when I openly speak on current personal experiences, other times those matters will be illustrated through different art forms, and sometimes I will just post randomness.

Do I even need to give explanations? I think not.
Maybe this was actually a “current personal thought”, so maybe I am complying! 😉

Here is a photograph for the sake of posting. It will also give you a random insight in the life of Moon.

*Disclaimer* The picture is of poor quality. It was taken at a cafe in Midtown, Miami FL.

1. My favorite animal is the elephant.

2. I recently had a dream that I was a white lotus flower. (The elephant seems to be watering it)

3. I am a borderline vegetarian. I guess that makes me a flexitarian.

3. The color of the wall where these cute drawings were made is purple. Some hints of lavender. Lavender is my favortie essential oil and the color of Amethyst, which I resonate with very much.

As I read through the blogs I follow,

Source: Library of Congress Diaries and Notebooks

I am humbled  to know you follow me back. Why? Honestly, it’s because I respect you all as writers and admire your talents. The beauty of your prose, the sophistication of your thoughts, the wit with which you write, the colorful descriptions and clever use of vocabulary, it all makes me wonder what it is about MY blog that impels you to follow.

Truly, what could it be? I started writing at the age of eleven, and I’ve always been fascinated by grammar and syntax and all that ‘nerdy’ stuff, but I’ve never taken any creative writing courses, and I usually never finish reading a book (albeit I have), no matter how intriguing and thought provoking it may be. (I am making an effort to change that though). And most of my poetry tends to sound the same, i think..

Basically, I think I’m a simple, inexperienced writer. But for whatever reason  you choose to follow me I genuinely thank you. It makes me smile. 🙂

Love and light,
